BUSH BRINGS BACK MARTIAL LAW

Today is the craziest day in news because President Bush has admitted what some of us already knew: that this nation is under martial law and it's getting worse. President Bush announced that he wants and will ask congress to agree that convictions based on coerced evidence is admissible. In the words of the article in today's LA Times, Bush's Plan Allows Coerced Evidence, A1, this system is "military style."

Way true... I agree with your position. However I also think that in times of National Emergency, or imminent threats to the peace, those categories of persons classified by the Geneva Convention as "Terrorists" must necessarily be subject to some coercive tactics...not amounting to torture (which is against the Convention rules anyhow).
Paradoxically, no one brach of government should usurp the powers reserved to another, as you mentioned. The best compromise is to have cowboy Bush at 'em and have it ratified/handed over to the other two branches. But is this possible? And you're right--when does it go too far?
